The VA home loan benefit, from service record to front door

Chapter 4: using the benefit again

Bottom line

The VA home loan is not one-time. You can use it again as long as you have entitlement available. Selling the home and repaying the loan normally restores full entitlement. If you paid off the loan but kept the home, you can usually request a one-time restoration. With a loan still open, you may be able to use remaining entitlement.

How to request restoration

Restoration is requested from VA, often alongside a Certificate of Eligibility request. A lender can help with the paperwork.

What veterans and families ask

How many times can you use your VA entitlement?

There is no set number of uses. You can use the benefit again whenever you have entitlement available or restored.

Can I have two VA loans at once?

It can be possible with enough remaining entitlement. Use the entitlement explainer and ask a VA-approved lender.
